Gore Mountain Skiing (Alpine & Cross Country)

Adirondack Skiing - Cross Country Skiing

Come to the Gore Mountain Region for the best in Adirondack skiing when the snow starts to fly.. try one of our hair-raising expert black diamonds or a long winding intermediate trail at Gore Mountain Ski Area. New at Gore, the Northwoods Gondola, rated by Ski Magazine as the best new lift for 2000. And, if you're worried about Mother Nature’s ability to supply you with that natural stuff, don’t be! Gore boasts snowmaking on 95% of its Adirondack skiing terrain.

If you're not a down-hill skier and your passion is cross-country skiing, you're in luck. The Gore Mountain Region has over 120 kilometers of Adirondack skiing trails within a seventeen mile radius, and if you choose to travel in a thirty mile radius you can add another 80 plus kilometers of groomed trails. We're not talking about common place cross country centers either.  One of our centers has been listed in the Ten Best Cross Country Ski Centers in North America by "Snow Country Magazine", and another is located at a country inn that is regularly listed in the "Wine Spectator's" list of tops in service.

Biking in the Adirondack RegionFall Foliage

Many people who used to make the pilgrimage to Vermont to see the foliage have discovered that the Gore Mountain Region boasts fall foliage every bit as good as Vermont's, without the crowds. Not only are you not overrun, but the locals wave at you and willingly share some of the best locations to see this natural site. Gore Mountain opens its new Northwoods Gondola for scenic rides Saturday and Sunday throughout the fall.  View the majestic colors from a scenic train along the Hudson River or view from a moving raft with one of our white water rafting companies. Peak color occurs in the majority of the area are in the last two weeks of September, and the first two weeks of October. Mountain Biking in the Gore Mountain Region challenges all levels of riders from aggressive, lift serviced, downhill terrain at Gore Mountain to single track cross country terrain at all our mountain bike centers.

Hudson River Whitewater Rafting & Water Sports

Spring and Summer in North Creek NY bring their own very special experiences. This Gore Mountain region of the Adirondacks has long been a mecca for weary city dwellers looking to find relief in the clean, cool, crystalline waters of our mountain-fed lakes, rivers and ponds. Fishing and boating of all varieties offer vacationers and residents alike a chance to reawaken the natural spirit within that is so often overlooked in our busy lives.

The best known place for white water rafting would have to be North Creek, NY.  Every year in the Spring, the Hudson River White Water Rafting Derby pulls in thousands of people to brave the rapids of the Hudson River.  The 50th anniversary of the Derby comes up in May 2007, so mark your calendars and make your plans now, as since it is America's oldest continuously running white water event.  It's sure to be a weekend that draws more participants and spectators than any other year. Throughout the summer there are many Adirondack Region events and activities to take part in.  You can go kayaking solo or take your group to any one of the Adirondack outfitters in the area for white water rafting with a highly experienced guide.  Most area guides also offer kayaking and canoeing lessons, as well as camping trips.  There are plenty Gore Mountain Accommodations available in the summer.
